Extensibility
Will it bend to fit our organization?
Rencore ships full builders for every governance artifact, policies, reports, dashboards, custom entities, and workflows. Customize what we shipped, build what we missed, run everything on the same engine.
Extensibility is Rencore's set of builders for governance artifacts, policies, reports, dashboards, custom entities, and automations. Every artifact type has a full creation experience, not just a settings page. Custom and pre-built content runs on the same engine, so customization is incremental rather than a fork, and what you build inherits every platform feature automatically.
Why it matters
-
Builders for every artifact type
Policy builder, report builder, custom dashboards, custom entity definitions, workflow builder. Every governance object the platform ships you can also build yourself, same shape, same engine.
-
Custom and pre-built are the same engine
A custom policy is not a second-class citizen. It runs on the same scanner, feeds the same dashboards, exports through the same SIEM stream, and lives in the same library as the recommended templates.
-
Simulation mode before activation
Test new rules against current tenant data without affecting anyone. Simulation runs the same policy and shows what would have flagged, so you can tune severity, scope, and remediation before going live.
-
Custom entities for objects we do not know about
Define schemas for business applications, compliance artifacts, third-party records, or any object outside Microsoft 365. Custom entities participate in policies, segments, and reports alongside native objects.

-
Custom Dashboards
Build dashboards from scratch with configurable tiles drawn from any policy, report, or segment. Share them license-free with executives, auditors, or business owners.

Custom Entities
Govern objects beyond Microsoft 365 and connected services. Define entity schemas, import from CSV or external systems, model relations, and run policies against them like native objects.

Policy Builder
Build custom governance policies from object properties, relations, and conditional logic. Same engine as pre-built policies, runs on every scan, feeds every dashboard, triggers automations.

Report Builder
Build custom reports with configurable visualizations, filters, and time ranges. Same definition exports as PDF, schedules to email, embeds in dashboards, and streams to SIEM.

Workflow Builder
Build custom automation workflows in a visual editor, branching logic, approvals, dynamic forms, integrations. Same V3 engine that runs the 104 recommended automations.

Why extensibility matters
Pre-built content gets you started. Real organizations always need more, internal naming conventions no template covers, regional compliance requirements specific to one subsidiary, business applications the platform never heard of, ITSM integrations with vendor-specific quirks. A platform that gives you templates but no builders ends up being a templates catalog. A platform that gives you builders but no templates is a six-month project.
Rencore is both. Templates as a starting point, builders to take it further. The same engine runs both, so customization is not a separate experience to learn, it is the same one, but for the artifacts that ship.
The builders, end to end
Policy Builder, Report Builder, Custom Dashboards, Custom Entities, and the Workflow Builder cover every artifact the platform produces. Each builder exposes the underlying schema as a UI, conditions, visualizations, tile types, entity properties, workflow steps. Nothing is gated behind a config file or a support ticket.
