Report Builder is Rencore's visual editor for custom analytics views. Build queries against inventory and policy data, choose visualization (bar, pie, donut, column, grid), set filters and time ranges, and save as a report. The same report definition supports PDF/Excel/CSV export, scheduled email delivery, dashboard embedding, and SIEM streaming, no separate config per consumption mode.

How it works

Pick a data source (an inventory type or a policy), pick the columns or aggregates you want, and choose a visualization. The builder shows a live preview as you adjust filters and groupings, no run-and-wait cycle.

Save the report and it appears in the library alongside the pre-built ones. Add it to any dashboard, schedule it for email delivery, or export it on demand.

When to build vs. clone

For minor tweaks to a pre-built report, different time range, different filter, clone the pre-built one and adjust. For genuinely new views (custom entities, organization-specific groupings, regional compliance metrics), build from scratch. Both produce the same kind of artifact and live in the same library.

Reports are not dead ends

A built report becomes a tile on a dashboard, an attachment in a scheduled email, an export in an auditor’s evidence pack, and a stream into the SIEM. The report definition is the contract; the delivery modes adapt to the audience.
